Indigenous Central Park Tour
Long before Central Park, there was the Lenape’s Manahatta. Wander through the Park’s lesser-traveled areas and discover the past, present, and future of indigenous presence within its landscapes.
Before the arrival of Europeans, the land that became Central Park was part of a rich indigenous ecosystem that the Lenape people still call home today. Join us as we uncover the vestiges of their presence in the Park’s wooded north end. Through the exploration of native flora and fauna we’ll reference contemporary indigenous research as we discuss how these native communities (including descendants of the Lenape) sustain and nourish their connections to their ancestral homeland today.
