A Walk Through History and Culture
Visit destinations that highlight famous figures, beautiful backdrops, and black history in New York City.
When Central Park designers Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux set out to create a great public space, they had no idea how the Park would come to represent generations of local and national history.
Discover Seneca Village, a pre-Park community that was home to a large population of land-owning Black Americans. This tour also features Summit Rock, the highest natural elevation in the Park, and kid-favorite Diana Ross Playground.
This tour is roughly a mile and should take about 60 minutes to complete.
