April 2 | Coyote Crazy
Who let their dog off-leash? Wait a minute, that's no dog! Are you surprised to learn we share the Park with large mammals like coyotes? They've been exploring Manhattan longer than we have, and they make good use of the ecosystem the Park helps create. Learn about the large animals that once called New York home—and some that still do—and how we can respectfully share this space. -
April 9 | Central Park and the World’s Fair
It was the beautiful month of April when the 1939 World's Fair opened in New York. And although the fair was held across the East River, in Queens, we'll uncover the many ties between this momentous event and our own Central Park. -
April 16 | Commemorating the Titanic
This year, we commemorate the 113th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic. As the destination city for its maiden voyage, New York has many memorials, structures, and parks commemorating the victims of this fateful event. Central Park itself contains a monument to the British journalist William T. Stead, who perished in the disaster, but there are other connections as well. Join us as we examine some of these links to one of history’s most famous catastrophes. -
April 23 | Art and the Park
As you walk through New York City, it doesn't take long to encounter some form of public art. In fact, Central Park is like a giant art installation—created by people over 160 years ago, it's a living landscape painting. The Park itself has hosted many different artists over the years, and even some of their art installations. Join us on this walk as we view artists in the Park, some of the works that were displayed here, and the lasting effect the art has had on Central Park. -
